Our Favourite
Toddler-Friendly Summertime Activities in Kelowna

Summer is here, and the living is easy… especially when in the Okanagan!

Anytime is the right time to be in Kelowna, but there’s something special about the city in the summer. Not only do we have some of nature’s best work right on our doorstep, we also have easy access to dozens of different activities and attractions for kiddos of all ages. Read on to discover some of our favourite toddler-friendly places in town.

Beach Time

Could anything but the beach be at the top of the list? Pack a picnic, lather up with sunscreen, and hit the sand for a day in the sun. Our favourite family-friendly beaches are Boyce-Gyro Beach Park, Beasley Park, and Rotary Beach Park.

Kangaroo Cuddles

The Kangaroo Creek Farm is a toddler’s paradise. With lots of places to roam and different animals to see, like kangaroos, capybaras, and pot-bellied pigs, the Kangaroo Creek Farm will keep your little one in awe the whole day long. Briggs loves the Kangaroo Farm!

Climbing Gyms, Arcade Games, Oh My!

If you need a break from the heat, the Energy Plex is great for all ages. Between a Kids Zone that has a 4-level playground, a snack bar, and an arcade area, your kids won’t want to leave! There’s even a sectioned-off area with soft pads and toddler-friendly activities for littles under 2.

Go to H2O

The enormous indoor waterpark at H2O Adventure offers a toddler-friendly splash area, complete with a playground and pint-sized slide. As the kids get older they’ll enjoy the lazy river, wave pool and three water slides.

Pick a Bumper Crop

Pack a reusable bag and drive out to Paynter’s Fruit Market to check out (and pick!) some of the area’s bountiful fruit options. Whether you favour apricots in July, or apples in September, their You-Pick options run from July to late October.

Views Galore

Knox Mountain Park, Kelowna’s largest natural area park, offers a stunning vista of the lake. Those with little legs will appreciate being able to park at the mid-way point to Paul’s Tomb, where you can access the lake for a cool dip.

One Scoop or Two?

Stop by Parlour Ice Cream to help beat the heat. With a focus on using local ingredients, they have popular kid-friendly options like Birthday Cake, Cookie Monster and Cotton Candy, while adults can indulge in flavours like Whiskey Hazelnut, Lavender, or London Fog.

Picnics and Playgrounds

What is summer without a good old-fashioned picnic? Whether you’re DIY-ing your snacks, or going all out with a picnic box from Crudité & Co., there are endless options to keep your little running around for hours. Check out Quilchena Park’s giant tube slide, Mission Creek’s accessible play structure (our favourite choice for little ones still learning how to walk and my personal go to before Costco trips, Briggs loves it!) Downtown's City Park Water Park or Ben Lee Park’s splash pad for a different adventure each time.
